The Cariboo Gold Rush - a Heritage BC and Digital Collections school curriculum site/project
An excellent site with lots of interesting details, including popular songs from frontier times and lots more.  One "small" complaint - its history of the Cariboo Road only talks about the Yale-Ashcroft route, built in 1862, and doesn't mention Lillooet much except in explanations of the naming/numbering of the roadhouses; Lillooet doesn't even show up on the map of the Cariboo on the site.  It's a common misconception that the first Cariboo Road started from Yale, but in truth its original "Mile 0" was in Lillooet, but in general Lillooet doesn't get the credit it deserves in BC history - something my own site was built to try and correct.  It's a bit sad that people working on BC history continue to further the idea that the Cariboo Gold Rush was the foundation of the Crown Colony of British Columbia, which was actually the result of the Fraser Canyon Gold Rush and the building of the Douglas-Lillooet Trail and the first Cariboo Road from Lillooet.  There's a general confusion in all published histories of BC between the Fraser Gold Rush (centred on Yale and surrounding bars, and on Lillooet and Lytton).
