Portage to Lillooet

Irene Edwards (self-publ.) 1977

history of the Bridge River-Lillooet Country since first discovery;
written by the former proprietor of stores and lodges at D'Arcy and

family histories, native legends confided to her, and personal accounts
of individuals and eras. Many pictures, and a strong focus on the
early days in the Lakes and the Bridge River Country. Second

cover on first printing) has more pictures and some new material, but
poorer quality paper and image reproduction.
Halfway
to the Goldfields - A History of Lillooet
by
Lorraine Harris, J.J. Douglas, North Vancouver, 1977
- a survey of
Lillooet history, partly in the form of biographies of certain
individuals and histories of specific notable families. Large
format, many interesting photographs and anecdotes and biographical
material not found in Mrs. Edwards book. Focus is on Lillooet and
the neraby ranches of the Fraser Canyon, rather than on Bridge
River-Seton as in Mrs.
Edwards. Both these books are out-of-print but worth the hunt -
and are complementary to each other.

similar to Mrs. Edwards' book, more focussed on the Pemberton ("Old
Lillooet") country but also including lore from the Lakes, Lillooet and
